Happy First Anniversary

To My Blog

It's hard for me to believe but "Two Sides of the Ocean" is celebrating its 1 year anniversary today. Just one year ago, February 16, 2007, I began this genealogy blog with an opening post on my great-grandmother, Juliane Feucht Schulte. This date was selected as it was my "Grandma Julie's" 137th birthday.

I was led kicking and screaming into the blog-o-sphere by my cousin, TK, an experienced genealogist and very experienced blogger. Her Before My Time blog is outstanding and never ceases to amaze me with the amounts of materials that she has inherited, the old photos that she can pull out of her genealogical closet and the sheer excellence of her writing skills. Together we are working tirelessly on our mutual Schulte line and have had a great deal of success this year in "crossing the ocean" to Germany in our search.

Now one year later, I have had 2,024 'hits' on this blog from all over the world including some connections on my Colberg/Kolberg line from Pomerania. I have met many fun and interesting bloggers and have participated in Jasia's Carnival of Genealogy on multiple occasions and been an avid reader of her Creative Gene blog. All of the participants in the Carnival of Genealogy are excellent bloggers and the diversity of the content of their blogs is what makes genealogical research so interesting.

I am pleased with the results of this first year of blogging. While I wish that I could post more frequently than what my schedule allows, I am satisfied with the posts that I have published.

Here's to more success and fun with "Two Sides of the Ocean"!

And a Happy 138th birthday to my special "Grandma, Julie" who I am sure (if she had lived longer) would have been a very special one-on-one great grandma.

Cheryl, congratulations on your one year anniversary! A milestone to celebrate, for sure. I always enjoy your posts and especially enjoyed the most recent series on researching the Kolberg/Colberg family "bc" (before computers).
